Looking back it’s quite common for people today to find agricultural roots in their genealogy. While we did not grow-up farming, we have a generational connection with grand, great and great great-grandparents that spans from the hill country outside of Avellino, Italy to New Jersey and from Germany to Indiana and Minnesota. The agricultural and broader ecological consciousness runs deep with us at the farm. Raising all types of vegetables and flowers, while caring for the environment as a whole, has been an integral part of our identity for over 40 years.
We moved to Spofford New Hampshire from Madison New Jersey in 1980. We began our life in New Hampshire operating a General Store and from there moved on to open, in succession, two fine dining restaurants in Keene. Steve was the executive chef and an active member of the American Culinary Federation and the National Restaurant Association . He was honored as an inductee into the Escoffier Society. While Steve was in the kitchen, Joy provided the restaurant's warm welcome and anchored the front of the house.
